College Basketball Betting – Duke Blue Devils vs. Florida Gators @ New York City

By Charles Jay
The Duke Blue Devils feel like they are getting close to full strength and a full rotation, although they been doing pretty well without it so far. On Tuesday night they will face a challenge against an opportunistic defensive team in the Florida Gators, as part of the Jimmy V Classic which takes place at 9:30 PM ET at Madison Square Garden. ESPN televises the event, and while it is happening, BetAnySports customers can place their wagers in real time with the state-of-the-art software available through Live Betting Ultra.
Duke is 8-1 straight-up (4-4 ATS), with the only loss at the hands of Kansas. They are ranked fourth in the nation in the Coaches’ poll, and fifth by the Associated Press. Florida is #21 in both major polls. The Gators are 7-1 straight-up (4-2 against the basketball pointspread), losing only to Gonzaga, which is currently #8 in the country.
Duke had been handicapped a bit during the early part of the schedule, because two blue-chip freshman, center Marques Bolden and forward Jayson Tatum, had missed the first eight games of the season. But they have both returned to action. That not only gives coach Mike Krzyzewski more people put in his rotation – as he had previously been using only six – but makes this team a little bit bulkier up front, which might be needed against this Florida squad, which is eighth in the nation in blocked shots but has been poor in the area of defensive rebounding.
In the college basketball betting odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Duke is favored:
Duke Blue Devils -7.5
Florida Gators +7.5
Over 146 points -110
Under 146 points -110
As usual, Duke is very accurate shooting from the field, hitting 49% of their attempts, and they are highly proficient in preventing their opponents from hitting beyond the arc, allowing only 26.6% triples. That won’t matter a whole lot against Florida, however, as the Gators have scored only 23% of their points off of three-point shots. Florida really forces the issue when it comes to their defense; they are 14th best in the nation in causing turnovers, which they do on 24% of their opponents’ possessions. So it is incumbent upon the Blue Devils to play very much under control.
BetAnySports patrons should be apprised of the injury situation involving a couple of these Duke players. Grayson Allen, the team’s leading scorer at 17.1 points per game, sat out the last game against Maine with a toe injury, but he is listed as probable here. The same goes for Frank Jackson (15.4 points per game), the closest thing they have to a point guard, who set out that last game as a precautionary measure.
Duke is #1 in the nation in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency, while Florida is eighth in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency. Maybe we’ll see how much business Duke can do in the paint against the likes of John Egbunu, who averages 2 1/2 blocks for Mike White’s team. Both of these squads pride themselves on balanced scoring, but when Florida was faced with a ranked opponent, they managed only 37% from the field against the ‘Zags.
BetAnySports has the best odds available for college basketball betting action, and that incorporates reduced juice, which allows you to avoid laying the customary -110 on hoops action…… Remember that you can play in real time with Live Betting Ultra, and there are number of ways to deposit money, including your Visa card, person-to-person transfers and the virtual currency of Bitcoin!
