The Seattle Seahawks are coming on strong at the end of the NFL season, which shouldn’t necessarily come as any kind of surprise. And now they will have their opportunity to get their hands on the famous (or in the opinion of some, infamous) Johnny Manziel when they play host to the Cleveland Browns in Sunday football action that gets underway at 4:05 PM ET at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. After the opening kickoff, BetAnySports customers can keep their own action going as they place wagers in real time through the considerable wares made available at Live Betting Extra.
The Seahawks are winners of four straight, and they are taking no prisoners at this point. Last week it was a 35-6 win over the Baltimore Ravens, and the offense has been producing results at a fever pitch. In their last five outings, the ‘Hawks have tallied 173 points. In the last four games, Russell Wilson has sixteen touchdown passes. And Seattle has an opportunity to extend their hot December, which has seen them win 14 out of 16 games going back to the 2012 season.
On Sunday they oppose a Cleveland team that will once again be led by Johnny Manziel, who has finally gotten his “trial” to see if he could indeed be the quarterback of the future. So far, Johnny Football’s appearances have not been tragic, as he has completed 61% of his passes with six TD’s and three interceptions. And last week he led the team to victory for the first time in about two months as they beat San Francisco 24-10.
In the NFL betting odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, the Seahawks are sizable favorites:
This will obviously be a big test for Manziel; perhaps the one the Browns really need to see. After all, it is quite possible the Seattle, which allows just 3.6 yards a carry, will shut off his ground game, and the ratio of TD’s allowed to interceptions allowed on the part of the Seahawks is kind of ridiculous – just 11 to 10. Manziel has also been sacked about once for every eleven times he drops back to pass, and that is a sign of general indecision on the part of a young quarterback. Seattle is one of those teams that likes to get a pass rush on with just four men, so the Browns’ offensive line needs to be up to the task.
BetAnySports patrons who have followed Seattle’s story recently are aware that this is a team that is suffering a great deal of attrition on offense, so keeping up the kind of numbers they have been laying out there is going to be an extra challenge. Jimmy Graham, the All-Pro tight end, is already gone for the season. Marshawn Lynch was already sitting, and now Thomas Rawls, the outstanding rookie who was averaging a robust 5.6 yards per carry, is out for the season with a broken ankle. So now head coach Pete Carroll will have to make do with a committee of running backs that will include the recently re-signed Bryce Brown and Christine Michael, both of whom already know the Seattle system, and veteran Fred Jackson, who will be used in specific situations.
Maybe more will be left in the hands of Wilson, and with a red-hot receiving corps like Jermaine Kearse, Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett, maybe that isn’t such a bad thing for them.
